2011 Q3 Local Zadar TV report on the Interdisciplinary Nautical Archaeology Dive

The July 2011 interdisciplinary collaboration dive between nautical archaeologists and ROVs and AUVs was covered not only by the state national TV programme "More" but also by a local TV station, Vox, which operates out of Zadar (the macroeconomic centre nearest to Biograd na moru in whose municipality the shipwreck is situated) in a piece of TV programming that has also been webcast at the following link.


2011 Q3 National state TV report on the Interdisciplinary Nautical Archaeology Dive

The televised promotion of the CURE project continues with a report in an esteemed TV magazine show "More" (Sea) that is regularly programmed on Sundays on Programme 2 of HRT (Croatian state national TV channel)of Sunday, 10 July 2011.

The theme is an interdisciplinary effort to kick-start a new, professional and interdisciplinary research project at the protected site of the 16. century shipwreck of an as-yet-unidentified wooden cargo-carrying ship (probably Venetian) that is spearheaded by the University of Zadar, with participation from Texas A&M University, our own LABUST/CURE research group and various other experts. Zadarski list, an important opinion-making regional paper in the Zadar and neighbouring counties which constitute the mainland of the most navigated routes up and down the Croatian Adriatic, a mid-range-circulation newspaper, reported onThe 2. International Interdisciplinary Field Training of Marine Robotics and Applications "Breaking the surface 2010". 2010 Q4 BtS2010 on the RTL Central News Show

As well as in the state-financed National TV's Central News show, the 2. International Interdisciplinary Field Training of Marine Robotics and Applications "Breaking the Surface 2010" was reported on in a somewhat expanded, although very brief format in the evening (18:30hrs CET - UCT+1, local time for Zagreb, Belgrade, Warsaw, Sofia) Central News report of RTL of Friday, 1 October 2010. RTL is one of the three nationally aired TV networks (the other two being Nova TV and HRT).

We feel that the airing of a feature about BtS2010, one of the two flagship Dissemination activities of the CURE project, on two out of three nationally aired TV networks is a great success in promoting the CURE project. See on YouTube.


2010 Q4 BtS2010 on the HRT Central News Show

The 2. International Interdisciplinary Field Training of Marine Robotics and Applications "Breaking the Surface 2010" was reported on in a 2 minute featurette / report, in the late-night (22:30hrs CET - UCT+1, local time for Zagreb, Belgrade, Warsaw, Sofia) Central News report of HRT, the state-financed Croatian National Television media house, HRT Vijesti of Friday, 1 October 2010.

We feel that this is an important result since the National Central News are the dominant public opinion-making media venue. See on YouTube.


2010 Q4 BtS2010 featured on National TV

Stepping in the footsteps of its predecessor, The 2. International Interdisciplinary Field Training of Marine Robotics and Applications, "Breaking the Surface 2010" was covered by the Croatian national TV network as well. The coverage was provided by the same programme - More (The Sea). A 7-minute vignette / feature was programmed, covering the 2010 Field Training, with participants and organizers interviewed. A mention of the ongoing activity within the Field Training's carrier activity, the CURE project, was made by the CURE Project Manager, prof. Zoran Vukic, as well as by the BtS2010 Organizing Committee Chairman, Mr. Matko Barisic.

Emphasis was placed on interviews of the invited speakers & lecturers, financed from the CURE project in order to transfer know-how to the Laboratory staff. Examples of interviewees include prof. Bridget A. Buxton from the Rhode Island University, Institute of Archaeological Oceanography, Kingston, Rhode Island, USA, prof. Antonio Pascoal from the Instituto Superior Tecnico, Institute for Systems and Robotics, Lisbon, Portugal and prof. Rafael Garcia from the University of Girona, VICOROB research group. 2010 Q2 A CURE Expose in Brodogradnja

In the second quarter of 2010, the Journal of naval architecture and shipbuilding industry "Brodogradnja / Shipbuilding"published a 4-page survey / expose about the activities in the CURE project by the CURE project manager, prof. Zoran Vukic.

The issue, volume 61, number 2 of June 2010, also featured the front cover page dedicated to the CURE project. A preprint of the front cover page is available in Adobe portable document format.

A high-circulation Croatian daily paper, Jutarnji List, one of the two most read daily newspapers carried a feature on the potential of underwater robotics in Croatian local and regional needs and European perspective within the context of the CURE project. The two-page centerfold feature presented in the image below also includes a framed section on the source of funding - the European Union.

2009 Q3 AUVSI Unmanned Systems Press Release

In the third quarter of 2009, near the end of the WP1: Strengthening research infrastructure, Task 1.2 Equipment procurement, OceanServer Technologies of Fall River, MA, USA, the makers of the Iver 2 vehicle, and the Laboratory jointly released a press release in the AUVSI Unmanned Systems magazine. The press release was about the shipping of an Iver AUV to Croatia for the purposes of achieving the goals of the CURE project.


2009 Q1 Jutarnji list on Croatian REGPOT

In the first quarter of 2009, just before CURE project kick-off at 1 April 2009, a high-circulation Croatian daily paper, Jutarnji List, reported on the excellent results that Croatian scientists, including prof. Zoran Vukic of University of ZagrebFaculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, have had in applying to the CAPACITIES FP7-REGPOT-2008-1 call. The article details the plans and mission statements of each project.
